Italy reports 125 coronavirus deaths

Italy reported 125 coronavirus-related deaths on Saturday against 218 the day before, the health ministry said, while the daily tally of new infections fell to 4,717 from 5,218, Reuters reports.

Italy has registered 125,153 deaths linked to the coroanvirus disease since its outbreak emerged in February last year, the second-highest toll in Europe after Britain and the seventh-highest in the world.

The country has reported 4.188 million patients to date. Patients in hospital with the disease – not including those in intensive care – stood at 9,488 on Saturday, down from 9,925 a day earlier. T

here were 64 new admissions to intensive care units, up from 51 on Friday.

The total number of intensive care patients fell to 1,430 from a previous 1,469. Some 286,603 tests were carried out in the past day, compared with a previous 269,744, the health ministry said.

Brazil adds 1,899 new coronavirus disease deaths

Brazil on Saturday registered 1,899 new coronavirus disease deaths, the Health Ministry said, bringing the total death toll in the country to 448,208.

Confirmed infections increased by 76,490 and now total 16,047,439, the ministry said.

Germany reports 6,714 daily coronavirus patients

The number of confirmed coronavirus disease patients in Germany increased by 6,714 to 3,648,958, data from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) for infectious diseases showed on Sunday.

The reported deaths from the disease increased by 82 to 87,380, the tally showed.

India counts 3,741 more deaths from coronavirus disease

India on Sunday reported 240,842 new coronavirus infections over the last 24 hours and deaths from the disease increased by 3,741.

Total infections in the country stood at 26.5 million while the country’s total death toll was at 299,266, according to data from the health ministry.

India leads the world in the daily average number of new deaths reported, accounting for one in every three deaths reported worldwide each day, according to a Reuters tally.

76,855 added to Brazil coronavirus infections tally

Brazil recorded 76,855 additional confirmed coronavirus disease patients in the past 24 hours, along with 2,215 new deaths from the disease Health Ministry figures showed on Friday, Reuters reports.

Brazil has now registered almost 16 million patients since the pandemic began, and the official death toll stands at 446,309, according to ministry data.

One million lives lost to coronavirus disease in Latin America

The new coronavirus disease has killed 1 million people in Latin America and the Caribbean, according to a Reuters tally, with the pandemic worsening in the part of the world with the highest per capita death rate.

Most of the deaths – more than 446,000 – have occurred in Brazil, which has the second deadliest outbreak outside the United States. Brazil remains the third most affected country in the world in infections, behind only India the United States.
