Ocean Park will not set up any “haunted houses” this Halloween, and instead opts to send “ghosts” out in open areas due to the pandemic.
Those who want to visit three special themed zones will have to pay HK$280 more on top of the regular entrance fee – meaning adults will have to pay HK$640.
The Halloween Fest will open to visitors from Friday (Oct 1) to Halloween on October 31, except Tuesdays.
Due to health concerns, Ocean Park will switch from indoor activities to outdoor ones.
Among the three highlighted attractions, “Forbidden Rainforest Treasure Hunt” at The Rapids involve water pistol attacks from staffers dressed as cannibals, and visitors must protect their treasure maps from attacks while riding on a raft through many twists and turns.
Those who do not want to get wet may opt for the remaining two attractions, “Survivors of the Undead” and “The Supernatural Ghost Tour,” where the former requires visitors to find vials in a wasteland while escaping attacks, and the latter features soul catchers.
Visitors who would like to access the three attractions will have to purchase an additional Halloween combo ticket that costs HK$280 on top of their general admission tickets — which costs HK$360 for an adult and HK$195 for a child aged between three to 11 years old.
Back in 2019, Ocean Park charged HK$398 for unlimited access to all Halloween attractions. The festival was canceled for the first time in two decades last year due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
The new ticket price for adults who want to experience all attractions this year is over HK$240 more expensive than the 2019 price.
But operations and entertainment executive director, Timothy Ng Sau-kin, said he is confident with the new price.
“We have accumulated many fans in the past years, and we are confident that the price is easily acceptable for them,” he said.
He also explained that the price increase was due to the reduced entrance capacity, and that more resources and manpower had been devoted to this year’s Halloween attractions.
Currently, the Ocean Park is allowed to fill up to 75 percent capacity.
