Tai Po will see its first cinema in 20 years as Golden Harvest opens its outlet this October.
Golden Harvest Cinema announced on Facebook on Monday tat its 10th branch, Golden Harvest Tai Po, will open at Tai Po Mega Mall. It has yet to spell an exact opening date.
The new cinema covers 15,000 square feet and has four cinema houses with nearly 400 seats, including D-BOX motion seats which are unique to Golden Harvest Cinemas.
It is transformed from the shopping mall’s parking lot. Golden Harvest plans to develop it into a leisure space for young people.
Fiona Chow Sau-fong, executive director of Orange Sky Golden Harvest Entertainment (Holdings) Limited, said there has been no cinema in Tai Po since 2001 and residents had to head to districts to watch movies.
“Golden Harvest has been aware of the residents’ demand, so GH Tai Po would not only play the role of a cinema but also bring a new and refreshing feeling to the community,” Chow said.
