Third lowest satisfaction rate for Policy Address

An instant poll on Wednesday’s policy address showed a satisfaction rate of 34.2 out of 100 – slightly higher than last year, but still the third lowest since 1999.

The Hong Kong Public Opinion Research Institute interviewed 936 people by phone or online, among which 610 knew about the policy address.

The average score of this year’s Policy Address was 34.2, 7 points higher than last year’s 27.2.

But more than half of the respondents were still dissatisfied with this year’s policy address. 36 percent chose “very dissatisfied” – 14 percentage points lower compared to last year’s “very dissatisfied” category.

Around 25 percent said they were “very satisfied” or “satisfied,” an increase of 6 percentage points from the same category last year.

Since 1999, the three policy address receiving the lowest satisfaction rate were 2019 (29.2), 2020 (27.2) and this year (34.2).
