Former CE Tung Chee-hwa hospitalized due to heart problems

Former chief executive Tung Chee-hwa is currently hospitalized at Queen Mary Hospital due to heart problems.

A spokesman for Tung said on Monday that the former Hong Kong leader had undergone surgery last month and is currently in the hospital for follow-up checks.

The spokesman also added that Tung’s surgery was successful and he is currently recuperating from it.

Tung, who is also the vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, was reported to have heart problems after he collapsed in public in March this year while attending the opening ceremony of the National People’s Congress in Beijing.
